The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has exceeded 100% of the level of execution of the allocations granted to the Consortium through the Incyde Foundation in the Spanish Pluriregional Operational Program FEDER 2014-2020, whose end date was December 31, 2023.

Once the operational framework has been completed, the Zona Base-Incubazul project has reached 100.17% execution, exceeding the total amount by almost 9,000 euros and demonstrating that Zona Franca continues to be a suitable organization to channel European Funds.

It must be remembered that the start-up of the Blue Economy high-tech incubator, Incubazul, obtained a subsidy of 2.5 million euros in March 2020 for a total investment of 3.15 million (80% subsidy). , while in November 2022 a new allocation of Feder Funds for the incubator of 1.5 million euros was made effective for a total investment of 1.9 million, which ratified the trust placed in Zona Franca, in its model. of sustainable industry linked to the Blue Economy and in the promotion of economic activity and business creation promoted by the Cádiz Consortium and its startup incubator.

The State delegate, Fran González, has been very satisfied with the degree of compliance achieved, “which demonstrates that the Free Trade Zone continues to be a suitable organization and capable of effectively channeling European Funds, which are certainly a useful and necessary tool. ” Fran González has also highlighted the excellent collaboration with INCYDE, Foundation of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce, the organization through which the Feder Funds granted to the Base Zone-Incubazul project are managed.

The Incubazul acceleration program has been a complete success and there are 80 startups that in less than 2 years have joined the incubator ecosystem, becoming a real element of economic revitalization, since a third of the startups are already billing and 31.8% are already working in the minimum viable product (MVP) phase.

Already in 2022, the work of the Free Zone and the good progress of its incubator received recognition from the Incyde Foundation, which held its first incubator meeting in Cádiz, at the Incubazul facilities.

In parallel to the acceleration program, the high-tech incubator project subsidized with Feder Funds includes the recycled maritime container building that is about to be inaugurated in the outer industrial area of the Free Trade Zone, on the plot that formerly belonged to Ibérica Aga , an icon of sustainable architecture that will be an emblem and authentic reference of the change that is going to occur in the industrial area of the capital of Cadiz. In fact, this entire area will be completed with a business hotel and a student residence that will be built in the same Base-Incubazul Zone Execution Unit, projects that will revitalize that area of the city.

The Incubazul High-Tech Incubator is a project that was born thanks to the support of the European Union, which co-finances it, through the INCYDE Foundation, 80% by the ERDF within the 2014-2020 Multi-regional Operational Program within axis 3: Improving the Competitiveness of SMEs, Thematic Objective 3 Improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, and investment priority 3a Fostering entrepreneurship, in particular, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, and promoting the creation of new companies, also through nurseries.
