The delegate of the Cádiz Consortium, Fran González, participated in the round table, in which he explained the lines of his new industry model
Sustainability and new industry 4.0 models have focused the debate on this day of the new economy
The presence of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is common in this forum, which this year celebrates its fifth edition and is attended by more than 15,000 people, 106 invited countries, 350 speakers and more than 1,500 emerging companies.
The Cádiz Free Zone has once again had a notable presence at the Barcelona New Economy Week event, BNEW Barcelona, which in 2024 has reached its fourth edition. And it has done so with the assistance of the delegate of the Cádiz Consortium Fran González, accompanied by the director of Promotion and Foreign Trade, Marta Domínguez.
The head of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has participated in one of the debate tables, entitled “Blue Economy: Promoting a Sustainable Future from the Oceans”, sharing the poster with Anna Majó, director of Strategic Sectors and Innovation of Barcelona Activa (City Hall from Barcelona); Pau Guasch, CEO of SEABOTS; and Miquel de la Mano, technical director of the Barcelona Port Innovation Foundation.
Fran González explained the keys to the new industry model that the Cadiz Free Trade Zone is implementing around the Blue Economy and also explained details about the Decarbonization Plan launched to achieve an emissions-free future, with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint, reduce energy consumption and economic expenditure.
The Cádiz delegate has pointed out that “our decarbonization plan consists not only of the calculation and registration of the carbon footprint but also a Plan for Mitigation and Compensation will be implemented, the work of which is being carried out by the company Tragsa, is very advanced”
González has highlighted that the new industry model of the Cádiz Consortium has a fundamental axis that is the Blue Economy and the high-tech incubator that is obtaining very positive results and some of whose startups are already beginning to stand out in different forums. “The fact that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is included in this type of forum demonstrates the work we have been developing in the area of the Blue Economy with public investment, with the creation of new infrastructures or with the Incubazul acceleration program as an example to be able to extrapolate and that captures the attention of public and private entities outside our geographic scope. It is a good model that comes to establish itself and generate a vision that is already present, which puts the Cádiz Free Trade Zone at the forefront of initiatives of great significance, both social and economic,” said the head of the Consortium.
The presence of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone in Barcelona will serve to promote institutional meetings and business contacts. In this regard, Fran González has been very satisfied with the contacts made possible at this event, which “provides us with an ideal forum to sell the benefits of the province to potential investors and promote our new, more sustainable industrial model. This is precisely a forum in which the role of the new economy as a vector of reindustrialization is highlighted,” he said.
In this edition, the BNEW, organized by the Barcelona Free Zone and held in the city of Barcelona from October 7 to 10, has opted for the aviation sector within the framework of the development of space tourism, sustainability or increase in travel, focusing not only on aviation, but also on the tourism sector and how innovation and environmental preservation play a fundamental role in the development of both activities.
