The Consortium thus advances in the urban planning process to be able to begin the urbanization work during the first months of 2021
The Cádiz Free Trade Zone takes a new step in the development of the Base Zone technological project on the soils of the former Ibérica Aga, in the outer enclosure. The Consortium is meeting the deadlines and advancing in the necessary procedures for its implementation with the contracting of the urbanization project corresponding to the segregated execution unit UE-EX – 08 – A, in which the Base Zone will be developed, a technological and innovative space with a modular structure with maritime containers that will change the appearance of this area of the city and will serve as an impetus for the development of the rest of the exterior polygon.
The company Técnicas Gades, S.L. will be in charge of carrying out the urbanization project within a maximum period of two months. This project will define the treatment of roads according to the guidelines of the Urbanization Ordinance in terms of design criteria, materials, trees and urban furniture that must be met by the urbanization works, which have an area of 7,091 m.2.
Once the urbanization project is completed, the Consortium plans to put out to tender the urbanization works on the plot during the first months of next year, works that have a planned investment of 438,738 euros (VAT not included).
It must be remembered that Zona Franca is complying with the planned schedule and the necessary milestones to advance in the implementation of the Zona Base project, which in its first phase includes the implementation of a high-tech incubator based on the Blue Economy and which is financed by funds granted by the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain Feder 2014-2020 “A way of making Europe” through the Incyde Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce.
Thus, in parallel to the drafting of the urbanization project, Zona Franca is proceeding with the demolition of the old Pastoriza workshops, which will allow that plot to be connected to the old Ibérica AGA and free up the space necessary to develop the Zona Base project.
Previously, in 2019 the Consortium carried out renovation and adaptation works on the plot for an amount of 519,361.02 euros (VAT not included). The work also included the repair of the listed building located on the plot, as well as the placement of a new fence on the boundaries and the provision of a motorized sliding gate as a new access.
Although the Free Trade Zone only has 7.6% of the surface area of the outer enclosure, its reorganization is one of the priority lines of work for the institution given the strategic nature of this important space for the socioeconomic growth of the city. Zona Franca has opted to promote its development hand in hand and with the collaboration of the city council, with which it is in permanent dialogue to advance the urban planning procedures necessary to begin work on the Zona Base action and its incubator. blue economy, a project that was born to attract industry 4.0. and generate a space of opportunity for Cadiz talent in this sector and, in turn, generate new options in the city for the arrival of technological and sustainable companies.
