Blue Marine Oil

Blue Marine Oil is a biotechnology company with differential technological know-how that we apply to the extraction of oils, proteins and substances of interest, from by-products and discards of fishing and aquaculture (fish, mollusks and crustaceans).

We valorize fish discards (heads, bones, viscera...) using chemical and biological silage technology. After carrying out a validation phase of the activity with a reference Technological Center (ANFACO), applying the technology to 3 types of fish discards, we were able to conclude that the % of oil and its profile were adequate for the requirements of the nutraceutical sector, that the hydrolyzed proteins met the demands of the premium pet food industry and that, in addition, we could use other technologies to recover other substances (collagen, antioxidants, etc.).

On the other hand, we have just completed the R&D phase to identify a new way of valorizing mollusk discards (mussel shells, cockles, etc.) that will allow us to obtain substances of interest for the nutraceutical market and food supplements for people. And animals. The idea is to start offering this service to companies that generate mollusk waste.
Finally, we are in the literature review and design phase of the R&D project to determine technologies and processes for the recovery of crustacean discards (prawn exoskeletons, prawns, etc.) to obtain substances such as chitosan or astanxanthin, great application and interest in various industries.
