“From Sea 4.0 Newmind we want to become a benchmark within the IoT applied to the maritime sector”

Sea 4.0 Newmind is a communication beacon powered by solar energy, which allows this data to be sent to a cloud in real time, which is received through a web application on a mobile phone, tablet or PC. Producers, brotherhoods, public administrations, can thus carry out an exhaustive control of the variables.

Sea 4.0 NM was born within NEWMIND as a project that has led to the development of a series of technological tools, both hardware and software, that allow improving the services of the sectors linked to the Blue Economy, based on data and new technologies, generating data to help predict what is going to happen.

An Incubazul startup formed by a team made up of Diego Vázquez González, Anxo Vidal Abal and Juan Carlos Moral González. The latter has answered the questionnaire of the Incubazul blog.

What is your role within the company?

I am the person responsible for the operations area, which implies direct contact with the challenges that are presented to clients. This direct contact is what allows us to identify "pain points" in different sectors or markets. These pains tend to be shared by more companies. At that time, I handed over the responsibility to the technological innovation area, which together with Diego Vázquez, another of the co-founders of Newmind, tried to develop scalable solutions.

What does your value proposition consist of?

Our value proposition is to democratize access to technology and data, as well as to create an innovative and technological culture in society. In the INCUBAZUL program we are participating with our SEA 4.0 project with which we seek to digitize the oceans, since we consider that they are a "sea of data" that can give us a lot of useful information when making decisions in different areas such as port logistics , water quality, maritime transport...

How does your solution contribute to the sustainability of marine resources?

At Newmind we want to become a benchmark in the IoT applied to the maritime sector and many of our developments are in this line, such as the case of PEGADA SEA 4.0. With SEA 4.0 we seek to control different values of the sea such as pH, salinity, conductivity,... and correlate them with the growth or other behaviors of different shellfish, as well as control pollution in bays and ports.

What aspects differentiate you from your competition?

In such a global market, benchmarking makes it increasingly difficult to differentiate substantially from the competition. What we can say is what characterizes us, which is the passion for what we do, a deep knowledge of the market where we are headed and the intention that always accompanies us to make technology as simple as possible to bring it closer to society. but without sacrificing quality and user experience.

How do you think technology helps to enhance your solution?

Technology is part of our company and our SEA 4.0 project. Thanks to the IoT we can digitize the sea and answer the business questions of a sector as relevant as the maritime and fishing industry in Spain and in the world. Technology allows us to let the sector know that their business questions can be answered.

Have you come into contact with potential clients?

Not only have we been in contact with potential clients, but thanks to INCUBAZUL we have been in contact with different actors in the technology sector who have shown interest in our project and who are willing to collaborate with us. They have also helped us see our project from different angles and perspectives, opening our minds to other possibilities.

How did you find out about the Incubazul acceleration program?

We were looking for an acceleration program that would fit our objective, and through the Telefónica Open Future program we found out about this initiative from the Cádiz Free Zone. A great opportunity opened up for us to present our project, in the only accelerator in Spain focused on the Blue Economy.

How is your experience in the accelerator?

Spectacular. The entire Incubazul team, in addition to offering us all the means we need to carry out this project, is making us feel the colors, that is, that we fully identify with the values that are transmitted in the accelerator. We perceive your enthusiasm for our project and we value your effort to make it go ahead, and that motivates us even more. .

What areas of mentoring do you think can bring you more value?

Manuel Escobar is our head mentor and from the first minute, he not only understood our SEA 4.0 project, but also understood the values of NEWMIND. That for us has been very important. He made a perfect SWOT of us and I think he is not taking the right path, rethinking issues that we thought we had more than clear.

What would you say to other entrepreneurs who want to launch their project based on the blue economy?

Incubazul is the right place for many reasons: the team, the media, the treatment, the contacts, the mentors, the support,... They manage to invade you with a wonderful feeling that is to feel supported and that it seems that your team has multiplied, thanks to his involvement.

Do you want to tell us something else?

Thank you only for all the support we are receiving, the treatment you are giving us, the opportunities you are giving us and the means you are making available to us. But above all, to ensure that we do not lose focus.

This High Technology Incubator Project for the promotion of innovation and technology transfer to microSMEs in the blue economy sector in Andalusia “[BlueEcoIncuba x Logistical]Tech = ZONA BASE – INCUBAZUL 2.0” is 80% financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain FEDER 2014-2020 OP. “A way of making Europe” within axis 3: Improving the Competitiveness of SMEs, Thematic Objective 3 Improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, and investment priority 3 Promotion of entrepreneurship, in particular, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, and promoting the creation of new companies, also through incubators.”
